At Georgia Council on Lupus Education and Awareness in Atlanta, Georgia, we know that lupus can be diagnosed by any board-certified physician. However, the most common and highly recommended physicians tasked with diagnosing and treating the various forms of lupus are rheumatologists and dermatologists.

Due to the complexity of the disease, most patients have a team of physicians that manage their care including nephrologists, neurologists, and gastroenterologists.
